Some cookies are needed to make our site work at all. The rest only run if you say yes, and you can change that answer whenever you like.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some hold things the site cannot work without, like what is in your basket. Others record how the site was found and used, which is how we tell whether our advertising is worth what it costs.

This policy covers cookies and anything that works like one, including information kept in your browser’s storage and the tags and pixels we load through Google Tag Manager.

Your choice

The first time you visit, we ask whether to allow optional cookies for analytics and advertising. Nothing in those groups runs until you press Accept all. If you press Reject all, the site works just the same, and we do not ask again unless this policy changes in a way that matters.

We keep your answer in a cookie called io_consent for six months. It records only the answer and nothing about you. You can change it at any time with the button at the top of this page, or with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Essential cookies

These run whatever you choose, because without them the site cannot do what you asked it to.

  • Your basket and checkout: WooCommerce, which runs our shop, remembers what is in your basket and keeps your checkout together from one page to the next.
  • Signing in: keeps you signed in to your account as you move between pages.
  • Payments and fraud checks: Stripe, who process card payments, set cookies to spot fraudulent payments.
  • Trade-ins: we keep your trade-in quote in your browser so it is still there if you come back to it.
  • Live chat: Olark, our chat service, loads when you first tap, scroll or press a key, and sets cookies so a conversation stays open as you move around the site.
  • Your cookie choice: io_consent, so we do not have to ask again.

Analytics cookies

Only set if you accept.

  • Google Analytics: which pages are used, and where people get stuck.
  • Product views: our own cookie, ioutlet_uuid, kept for 30 days. A random code that lets us count how many different people are looking at a product, which is the number shown when a product is popular. It holds nothing about you.
  • WooCommerce shop statistics: cookies starting tk_, set by WordPress.com for our shop software, WooCommerce. They count how people move through the shop, such as product views and baskets, and where a visit came from.

We also use Plausible and WordPress.com’s page statistics. Both measure pages without setting cookies and without collecting anything personal, so they run either way.

Where an order came from

Set unless you reject.

  • Order source: WooCommerce’s cookies starting sbjs_ note whether you reached us from a search, an advert, an email or by typing our address, so that if you place an order we can count which of those bring customers. They are ours alone, are not shared with advertisers, and are deleted when you close your browser. Pressing Reject all switches them off and deletes them.

Advertising cookies

Only set if you accept. These are how we tell which adverts and partners led to a real order, rather than guessing.

  • Google Ads: records that a visit came from one of our adverts, and whether it ended in an order.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram): the same, for adverts on Facebook and Instagram.
  • TikTok: the same, for adverts on TikTok.
  • Webgains: so partner websites that send customers to us are paid correctly.
  • UpSellit: reminds you about a basket you left, and measures whether that worked.
  • The products you look at: a random code kept in your browser lets us note which products you viewed, so the emails we send are about things you were actually interested in. It holds nothing about you, and is only linked to your name if you place an order.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking all of them will stop parts of this site working, including the basket and checkout. That is a limit of how online baskets work, not a choice we have made.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we set cookies for in a way that matters, we will ask for your choice again rather than rely on an answer you gave about something else.

Our privacy policy explains what we do with personal information more generally, including how to ask for a copy of it or to have it deleted.

This policy was last updated on 19 October 2026.
