3 Tips for Extending the Life of Your Phone

Mobile phones are becoming an increasingly expensive piece of technology but it’s unlikely that we will ever go back to not owning one. This means users are looking for ways to extend the life of their phones in order to get more value for money when it comes to their devices.

Exterior and screen protection

One of the quickest ways to devalue a device is by causing cosmetic damage to the screen and exterior of a mobile phone. Cracked screens, broken cameras or scratches around the phone are hard to avoid when we spend so much time using our devices. However, you can buy great quality cases and screen protectors to make sure you keep your device looking box new for as long as possible.

If the option is available we’d recommend getting a screen protector and case from the same manufacturer as the ones making the phone as this can ensure everything fits correctly and as expected. If you are looking for something a little more heavy duty make sure you get a case that covers both the front and back of your device.

Don’t clog your device’s internal storage

Phones getting slow is one of the main reasons people decide it’s time for an upgrade. In order to keep your phone running smoothly for longer, you want to make sure you don’t clog your device with apps, photos and other files that aren’t necessary. If you want to keep your files safe without taking up too much storage space take a look at some cloud storage options.

iCloud, Google Drive and OneDrive are all great options for storing images, videos and other types of files without keeping them on your device. It’s still possible to view these files on your mobile device but you won’t be taking up any space to do so.

Damage limitation

There are some things we instinctively do with our mobile devices that we forgot could cause damage to them. Reducing the amount of risk you take with your technology can help to ensure it lasts longer. If you’re driving, make sure your device is in a frame that securely holds it in place and doesn’t allow for any slips or falls to happen whilst you are driving.

Another is to avoid keeping your device in your pockets when working out. If you workout with a device in your pocket not only do you risk it falling out, but you also risk getting water damage from sweating. Finally, if you’re talking on the phone, use headphones so you have both hands free rather than trying to balance the phone and risk it falling to the floor.
