Most Apple Watch issues are quick to resolve. Work through these first.
Won’t turn on or charge
- Try a different cable and charger, and a different power socket.
- Charge for at least 30 minutes, then try again.
- Force restart: Hold the side button and the Digital Crown together for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
No signal or SIM not detected
- Reseat the SIM and check your network has coverage.
- Restart the device and check for carrier settings updates.
Wi-Fi or Bluetooth problems
- Toggle the connection off and on.
- Forget the network/device and reconnect.
- Reset network settings if needed.
Slow, freezing or crashing
- Install the latest updates.
- Free up storage space.
- Restart; as a last resort, back up and reset.
Common Apple Watch issues
Won’t pair with iPhone
Keep the watch close to your iPhone, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on, and both updated. If pairing stalls, unpair from the Watch app and pair again.
Not charging
Sit the watch flat on its magnetic charger (you’ll see a green bolt), clean the back and puck, and use an official charger.
Won’t install a watchOS update
Keep it on the charger, connected to Wi-Fi, with the iPhone nearby and charged. Update via the Watch app → General → Software Update.
An app is slow or blank
Restart the watch, and re-install the app from the Watch app on your iPhone.
